Bamboo Lycra is similar to cotton lycra, except it is flowier and definitely breezier! It makes BEAUTIFUL flowy tops and skirts, and you won’t feel hot and sweaty in this base!
Bamboo Lycra won’t cling to you, so if you are avoiding knits that are clingy and looking for a smoother drape, give Bamboo Lycra a try!
Must wash with care as it can stretch out of shape easily. Definitely not for bands and cuffs!
Board Short/ Peach Skin – 100% Polyester
Approx 144cm wide
Boardshort fabric was designed specifically for that purpose! However, it makes great little bags for popping in towels, flip-flops, goggles etc when going to swimming lessons or down to the beach, or cute little summer skirts! You are only limited by your imagination!
Bullet – 230 gsm
95% Polyester / 5% Spandex
approx 150cm wide
Soft flowing light weight fabric with a textured outside and a smooth inside. Perfect for garments that need structure such as tops, dresses, skirts and pants. It also makes beautiful headbands, turbans, skirts, blankets, head wraps, and more.
Canvas – 230 gsm
Canvas can be used for shoes, works of art and even clothing. Perfect for home decor and accessories like purses/wallets and bags.
Cotton Lycra – 190gsm
190gsm is suitable for warm weather, and is drapier, nice for flowy, light tops etc.
It is thinner than 220gsm and is not ideal for bands and cuffs. It does make awesome t-shirts for adults as it isn’t too hot!
Cotton Lycra – 220gsm:
220gsm is the standard weight for cotton lycra, and a great all-round weight! Use for fashion leggings, tops, jumpers/pullovers, bands etc. 220 is the weight you will need for bands to keep your pants and skirts up! My most popular fabric is CL 220.
Cotton Lycra – 260 gsm
260gsm is the heavier weight for cotton lycra, and a great all-round weight! Use for fashion leggings, tops, jumpers/pullovers, bands etc. 260 is the weight you will need for bands to keep your pants and skirts up!
Double Brushed Poly – 95/5 % Poly/lycra
4-way-stretch (greater across the grain)
DBP can be a bit of a “warmer” fabric, but that is totally dependant on how you wear it. If you were to make a flowy top or dress, it would be perfect for summer, or layer it up in the winter, or make it into a long sleeved top or cardy!

French Terry – 280 gsm
French Terry is like cotton lycra on top, with a loopy side underneath. It has a lovely stretch and recovery. Many people prefer to buy FT during the cooler months, however french terry makes AWESOME summer shorts as it is a sturdy knit!
Minky – 100% Polyester
Small stretch across the grain.
Luscious minky is ideal for cloth nappies, cloth pads, lining winter clothes like hoodies, hats and baby blankets. There are so many things you can do with minky! You can even make some pillows for a bed with some awesome panels in Minky!

The perfect weight for athletic wear. Leggings, sports bra/tops or even for everyday wear. Give performance a go.
PUL – 180gsm
Slight stretch across the grain
PUL is predominantly used as the waterproofing/resistant layer in cloth nappies, cloth pads, nursing pads, training/incontinence/period undies, raincoats, swim bags, lunch bags etc.
Please note, whilst PUL can be laundered on 90°C washes and tumble dried, we do NOT recommend that you do so. In our extensive experience with PUL from many other brands and businesses, we feel it is common sense that tumble drying PUL to “test” the laminate, in fact exposes the laminated side to the hot dryer drum, and will therefore melt it. If you reach out to us to let us know our PUL delaminated in the dryer, we will not compensate you.
You should be washing your PUL (nappies, pads etc) on 2 x 40°C or 60°C washes for a pre-wash and main wash cycle, with the recommended laundry detergent. (See Clean Cloth Nappy Down Under for more details)
Where there is a genuine fault, we will always compensate the customer, however we will require the product to be returned to us for an inspection prior to a refund being issued. We are happy to discuss this further, so please don’t hesitate to reach out!
Squish – 90/10 Polyester/Lycra
Ever wondered what it would feel like if Minky and DBP were crossed? The answer is: Squish! The possibilities are endless with this one!
Yes, you could use it for sewing warm garments, but how about making bed or sofa throws, baby blankets, cuddle toys or pillows? You could even make some warm infinity scarves or beanies!
What would you use it for?

Swim knit/Spandex UPF 50+ – 220 gsm
82% Nylon 18% Spandex
Can be used for workout wear, skater skirts/dresses, leggings and of course, swimwear! It is not always necessary to line when used in swimwear, but if transparency will be a factor when wet eg, fitted swimmers, I would advise using lining! Not necessary for things like rash shirts or fashion swimwear/activewear or looser fitting swimmers.
Another great use is compression wear.
The list goes on! Make sure you account for the tighter fit if using a pattern drafted for cotton lycra and remember to size up.
Woven – 145 gsm
approx 147cm wide
This middle-weight cotton woven is an all-round use fabric. You can use it for quilting, clothing such as light shorts, a lined (or unlined!) skirt, accent lining in a coat, hats, bags, accessories such as suck pads for baby carriers, bibs, scrunchies, cloth pads….the list goes on!
Our goal is to always provide continuous yardage, however, that may not always be possible.
